Husky turned his nose into the wind as the snowmobile leapt into life sending
us jolting across the frozen tundra. I had long since dispensed with fleece
and thermal underwear, opting for some generous layers of reindeer fur, generously
supplied
by Sasha, my Koryak guide.
Between the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea, Kamchatka lies on the extreme shore of Russia's Far East, nine time zones from Moscow. Here is the traditional home of the resilient reindeer herders and salmon fishers of the Kamchatka Peninsula.
